Attachments was a six-piece pop/rock band from Seattle, WA, active between 1983 and 1985. The six band members had all previously played in a variety of local bands, including cover band Albro Swift, original hard rock band Little Wing (who played the first NW Metalfest in 1981 at Lake Hills Roller Rink with TKO and The Mob--later to be known as Queensryche) and punk pop band the Rockefellers (with bassist Jonathan Poneman, later co-founder of Sub Pop).
The band started their own label, Art & Economix Records, and self-released a four song EP (1983), two 7” singles (1984 and '85), and a full-length album (1985) as well as contributing tracks to the KYYX Presents: Local Heroes and New Faces cassette (1984) and the first Christmas In The Northwest compilation (1985, benefitting the Children's Orthopedic Hospital).
The band played dozens of shows in the Seattle area, as well as Portland, OR and around Washington state both as a headliner and as an opening act (they played with international touring acts as diverse as the Eurogliders, Dan Reed Network and Joe “King” Carrasco).
While they developed into a forceful live act and became a popular draw playing to larger club crowds and college events, the band were seen as insincere by other musicians and local press even as they received airplay on major radio stations (KYYX, KJET), college stations (KCMU) and local TV (KING 5's 'Rev' hosted by Heart's Roger Fisher).
The recordings they left behind show a band growing into itself and finding a signature style in a very short amount of time. From the first EP where the band dared to release the first four songs they learned together as a band (creating an eclectic assortment of songs to say the least), to learning invaluable pop production and arrangement skills with producer Rob Perkins (Heart, Steve Miller Band) at Kaye-Smith Studios on their first 7”, to finding their stride with engineer Terry Date (later producer for Soundgarden, White Zombie, Pantera, Korn) who had just finished his first album (the Metal Church debut) at Steve Lawson Productions studios.
At the end of 1985, the band folded under the internal pressure of major label scrutiny, ironic for a band that had done everything they could to make it in the music business.
Over the years, some members continued to play in bands in Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles:
* CHRISTOPHER FREEMAN - bass (currently in Pansy Division, lead singer in GayC/DC and MARY)
* CHRISTIAN FULGHUM - lead guitar (later played bass in Sister Psychic, founded FIN Records)
* SANDI MILLER - vocals, guitar (later in Charlotte's Web)
* SALLY DANA - vocals (previously known as SALLY SCHLOSSTEIN, later in Action Plus, Pussy Tourette, played drums on Pansy Division's debut album)
* MARCUS WHITING - keyboards
* TY HANSEN - drums (1983-84)
* ANDREW DAVENHALL - drums (1984-85, later singer/guitarist in Sister Psychic)
